The Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS) has launched its new "One Less" savings campaign thrust. The thought-provoking concept of the campaign aims to educate the public on the value of savings, as well as the creative ways in which it can be done during a financial recession. President and CEO of  Victoria Mutual, Mr. Richard K. Powell noted "The savings campaign underscores the Society's commitment to creating value for our members and customers. For instance, in a time when there is increased consumer awareness of even the fees associated with doing transactions with financial institutions, VMBS still offers our ABM cardholders facilities such as free ABM and Point of Sale usage, not only while using VM machines, but while using the machines of any and every financial institution. Providing these and other charge free benefits to our customers is geared towards boosting their savings, instead of adding to their expenses."

To launch the campaign, the Building Society is holding an event at its New Kingston branch. Customers are to be treated to financial information and individual presentations by the company's experts who are poised to examine the financial planning strategies needed to create personal financial goals. The presentations will focus on individual situations to aid each person in planning budgets and managing monthly expenses, while outlining other factors such as the importance of setting goals, creating multiple sources of income, debt management and risk mitigation.

According to Mrs. Vivienne Bayley-Hay, Vice-President, Group Marketing & Corporate Affairs, "The campaign is designed to build awareness around the ways in which each person can create savings opportunities in their budgets. By making small adjustments in our individual spending habits we can increase our savings, therefore enabling each person to achieve their goals. We will show persons that minor changes in their behavior will lead to significant changes in their lifestyle over time. The campaign provides customers with tips, tools and financial solutions which are presented both by our advisors and online at our newly developed savings focused site,
www.whatsmytip.com. This way each person can relate the information we provide to their own circumstance." The launch event includes games and giveaways, and is hosted by comedians Elva Ruddock and Christopher "Johnnie" Daley, with special guest performances by dancehall acts Wayne Marshall and Ding Dong. The company plans to bring these activities across the island as they host events in the various parishes.
